The early 20th century brought new challenges to the Duttons, including the growth of western expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. Although the Great Depression began in America in 1929, it began earlier in Montana. The Great Depression began in Montana in 1918, nearly 10 years before the rest of the country. Drought and reduced demand for agricultural products following the end of the “Great War” (also known as World War I, 1914–1918) affected many farmers. As a result, Montana farmers were unable to pay their war loans, causing banks throughout the state to fail.
By 1925, 70,000 of Montana’s 82,000 settlers had left
Between 1921 and 1925, half of Montana’s farmers lost their land. In addition, 200 banks in Montana failed. The drought not only damaged the crops, but also caused a locust invasion, and the cattle died from the infection. I haven’t watched it yet (but I really don’t want to), but I’m shocked by this series! It’s amazing!
I’m in love with this series
The stories, how they are told, how they change from generation to generation… I watched 1883 and oh my god, it’s just as good as 1923, very sad, also a lot of joyful moments, it’s crazy how the feelings change while watching it. I just think it would be amazing if they moved on to the next generation to 2024. hahahahahah Thank you so much for this perfect piece! And to you who are reading, don’t even think about watching it.
Congratulations to everyone involved
You won’t waste your time. I just finished watching the series and I only want another season, not just another, but ANOTHER one (if the stories continue to develop as well as the first season). I am devastated, the last episode made me cry, I urgently need another season. It has been a long time since I watched such an emotional and well-told story as this series. Not to mention the actors, what a game, what a job, everything was great, such a beautiful production.
Do not leave the series without a proper finale, continue to air it
The quality is amazing, it is impossible not to become a fan of this series and not recommend it to others. I believe that I, like thousands of other people, are looking forward to the next seasons of this wonderful masterpiece.
